About J+M
Burkholder Farms is our family’s farm business that operates in Seneca County, Ohio. Once a small dairy farm of registered Holstein cows, we now operate just over 2000 acres of grain production, specifically soybeans, corn, and wheat. Overall, Burkholder Farms is comprised of Burkholder Farms J&M, LLC, Burkholder Farms Enterprise, LLC, and Burkholder Real Estate, LLC. The three LLC’s were created as our family went through succession and estate planning, and in transitioning management from the 3rd generation to the now 4th generation of farmers to operate the family farm. In fact, there is some land that can be traced back seven generations to the 1860’s.
Our family business has lasted through the generations in no small part from sound financial management. As the farming landscape continues to consolidate each generation into fewer, larger farming operations, and outside financial interests continue to pour money into investing in land, we realize that it may not be possible to make it to the next generation on our own. J+M Land Holdings, LLC was formed to be a private, localized land holding company. We will give individuals the opportunity to make the same investments that millionaires and hedge funds make; Without having to be one themselves. And as a farm operation, we will have the opportunity to defend against the large corporate farming operations; Without having to be one ourselves.
